Our first snow

Normally by now ,March 1st,we have had more than our share of snow and winter here. But ,alas, like the rest of NY and the New England area, we have had a very mild winter with a few snow flurries here and there. [even had a not so White Christmas].Then, yesterday, on Leap Day, the remarkable happened: our first substanstial snow fall! I am not a winter person, do not ski, snowboard, snow tube, any of the other winter things associated with this time of year.
The snow does look pretty, but a pain in the butt to clean off the car, shovel the driveway and sidewalks .
My dog loves the snow, my cat, not so much. Since he is not a litter box cat, he goes out long enough to do what he has to and then is at the front window scratching  the front screen left from summer in the window. After someone decides who is going to let him, he makes a beeline for the kitchen, wanting to be dried off, some food and water in his dish, then retires to my bed where he sleeps the day away. I would love to be a cat for a day.
Since it is March ,with the first day of Spring not in the so distant future, I will count the days to warm days and the windows open at night . Flip flops and shorts and sitting on the porch drinking iced tea and watching the fireflies.
 I can't wait.
