Empty Nest Syndrome

Ok, so now I am into another phase of my life. It is called the Empty Nest Syndrome. Yes, the baby of this family finally packed his things and left. Only thing is, it took him 4 days to do it, a little at a time. To his convenience of course. But he is not completely gone. In the midst of a almost redecorated room, sits a pile of his "stuff", he still needs to come and pack up, more than likely in garbage bags.
His method of packing was quite amusing. Starting last Saturday morning, he took two items to his new digs that he shares with 2 other friends. He had a wedding to attend to on Saturday and a Labor Day party to go to on Sunday. Sunday night at 9:00, he came and took the bed. Just the bed.
Labor Day, he was busy, but his sister and I decided to go check out the house and brought between us, about $70 worth of groceries and odds and ends. Nice old house that needs work and had to be beautiful back in it's day. Big house with 4 bedrooms.
He shows up Monday night and takes some clothes. Some, not all ( I am still waiting for the first laundry run here), and says he will be back Tuesday . He and a friend show up in the afternoon and bag after bag of whatever goes out to the car. He will be back. And he does after supper. He and his father load up the truck and his car and away they go!!
Will he be back? Why, of course, he was here Wednesday, Thursday, and  Friday. First thing, look in the fridge, check his mail and away he goes.
Empty nest?? Well kinda, but not completely. In the meantime, his former bedroom is getting a new look. Maybe when that last pile is gone, it will be a spare bedroom and a play room for Megan.
He is still there in spirit and with the small things he didn't take like his teddy bear named Bo that now sits on the top shelf of the closet.
Someday, there will be grandchildren sleeping in that room. But, hey, that's the next phase of my life!
